Dear SASRO members, colleagues, friends and guests,

Welcome to the 6^thAnnual SASRO meeting in Zurich. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the little big city of Switzerland. Thanks to the effort of our local staff and the national scientific committee we are happy and proud to present you an interesting and stimulating scientific program. We specifically welcome our distinguished national and international guests and hope that they will carry home good memories of both the scientific and social events of the meeting.
We think that the main topic "combined modality treatment" is timely. For many years substantial progress has been achieved in the technical field of our discipline. However, progress can only be made if radiation oncology is well integrated within interdisciplinary clinical oncology. It is true for research as well as for clinical practice.
We hope that there will be enough time and energy left for many social interactions during this meeting. We also hope that this SASRO meeting will help to strengthen the Swiss radiation oncology community.
