Welcome
It is our pleasure and especially a great honour to welcome you to the 16. Annual SASRO Meeting held in Winterthur, the sixth biggest city of Switzerland. Within neighbourhood to Zurich - Lake of Constance - mountains for skiing - it offers various possibilities for people who wish to work and live in our region. In 2012 the Clinic of Radiation Oncology at Kantonsspital Winterthur will be organizing the upcoming annual meeting of the Swiss Association of Scientific Radiation Oncology. SASRO as a multidisciplinary organisation promotes radiotherapy through science, education and cooperation within Switzerland. The annual meeting provides a platform for discussions on actual topics in radiotherapy within a multidisciplinary environment, generating new ideas and initiating close collaboration between radiation centres and industrial partners. The meeting will be held at Kongress- & Kirchgemeindehaus Liebesstrasse from 19 to 21 April 2012. Our main topic is "quality assurance and lung cancer", definitely a topic of interest, which will initiate lively discussions and offers the chance to exchange insights. The significance of Psycho-Oncology in radiation therapy is highly increasing. Hence, we are happy to include scientific parallel sessions with PSO topics during a SASRO meeting for the first time and we hope for inspiring discussions to be submitted. It's the first time for Kantonsspital Winterthur to organize a SASRO conference. Being the host of SASRO 2012 is of high importance for our Clinic of Radiation Oncology as Kantonsspital Winterthur has a long history evidenced by records, starting 100 years ago in 1912. Having the opportunity to celebrate a centenary of radiation oncology besides organizing SASRO 2012 is a further important highlight for us. Looking forward to seeing you in Winterthur, we hope for an animated attendance. On behalf of the local organizing committee
