Welcome to the SASRO Annual Meeting 2018!

Dear friends

The next SASRO Annual Meeting will take place in Zurich, 30th August to 1st September 2018 and I am honoured to host it with my team.

Radiation Oncology has made tremendous progress in the last years, which contributed to improved survival and quality-of-life of our cancer patients. Substantial progress has been made within our discipline - e.g. by development of IMRT, IGRT an SBRT. However, the optimal integration of Radiation Oncology into personalized cancer care and multi-modality treatment concepts will be both the biggest opportunity and challenge in the coming years.

The SASRO conference 2018 will therefore built on its established strengthens and simultaneously implement novel formats to address the current and future challenges for our discipline.
We will emphasize the collaborative nature of Radiation Oncology: invited national and international key-opinion leaders will share their vision of optimal cancer care today and in the future.
As a novel session type at the SASRO conference, we will summarize the most important developments from 2017-2018: "everything new a radiation oncologist, medical physicist, radiation biologist, RTT and nurse needs to know".
The industry will contribute to the scientific program in an integrative way to foster a better understanding of the mutual interests.
The conference will end with controversial discussions and outlook sessions, addressing the challenges to come in 2018 for our field of Radiation Oncology.

I believe that we have compiled an exciting and interesting program for the SASRO community.
In addition, there will be plenty of room and coffee breaks to discuss and foster additional non-formal exchange and discussion.
